Cindy Myrex, a lifelong resident of Cullman County, Alabama, has announced her candidacy for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 12, in the upcoming special election. This election follows the planned resignation of current Representative Corey Harbison, who has decided to step down to spend more time with his family.
Myrex, reflecting on her deep roots in the community, stated, “A lifetime in Cullman County and on Smith Lake, I never cease to be thankful for the part of the world God allowed me to be in.” She emphasized her gratitude for residing in a community “filled with generations of genuine, nurturing, and God-fearing families.”
Raised by hardworking parents, Myrex has been married for 38 years. She dedicated 18 years as a stay-at-home wife and mother before embarking on a successful career in real estate, now in her 19th season, specializing in Smith Lake and Cullman County properties. She and her husband, Ricky, are active members of Temple Baptist Church.
Reflecting on her life’s journey, Myrex commented, “I have been lucky enough to have the best of both worlds. To say I am blessed and thankful would be an understatement. I hope that along the way in my life, I can return the many blessings given to me.”
In addition to her professional endeavors, Myrex has been actively involved in conservative politics. She recently served as a Trump Alternate Delegate at the 2024 Republican National Convention, participated in the Alabama Strike Force with 16 days of door-knocking in Georgia, and was elected to the State Executive Committee for Cullman County.
Outlining her campaign focus, Myrex stated, “My focus is simple—faith, family, and freedom. I believe in protecting the rights of hardworking Alabamians and ensuring our values are represented in Montgomery. I will advocate for policies that strengthen our communities and preserve our way of life.”
The Special Election for District 12 has been prompted by Representative Corey Harbison’s decision to resign by April 15 to spend more time with his young family. Harbison expressed his intention to ensure that certain grants are finalized before his departure and highlighted the importance of timing his resignation to allow for a special election, thereby ensuring continuous representation for the district.
As the Special Election approaches, Cindy Myrex’s deep community ties and commitment to conservative values position her as a notable candidate for District 12.
