Cullman County native Heath Allbright announced Monday that he will be seeking the House District 11 seat in a special election to replace resigned Rep. Randall Shedd.
“I am running for Alabama House District 11 because I believe in the strength and potential of our community,” Allbright said. “As a lifelong resident of Cullman County, I have seen firsthand the challenges we face and the opportunities we can seize. I am ready to work with the people to ensure our district thrives– supporting families, schools and businesses while preserving the values that make district 11 home.”
Allbright said he brings a wealth of local knowledge and a passion for public service to his campaign and outlined key priorities as bolstering education funding, protecting constitutional rights, and promoting job creation through support for small businesses and infrastructure development.
“I want to be a representative who is approachable and accountable,” Allbright said. “Whether it’s fighting for our fair share of state resources or cutting through red tape to get things done, I will always put the people of District 11 first.”
Allbright is a lifelong resident of Holly Pond, Alabama in Cullman County. Heath has
served two terms on the Cullman County Board of Education. He and his
wife, BreAnn, have been married for 18 years and are the proud parents of Cade and Lily. Heath is the owner of Brighton Forestry Services, a timber harvesting and reforestation company based in Holly Pond, servicing North Alabama and Eastern Mississippi.
Shedd resigned February 17, 2025 to join the office of Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger.
Ivey set the special primary election for Tuesday, May 13, 2025; the special primary runoff, if necessary, for Tuesday, June 10, 2025; and the special general election for Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
“Rep. Randall Shedd has been an effective leader for the people of District 11, putting his constituents first and working tirelessly to improve their communities. I was proud to work alongside him, especially to expand broadband access across Alabama, ensuring more families, students and businesses have connectivity,” Ivey said. “As we move forward in filling this seat, I encourage everyone in District 11 to make their voice heard by getting out and voting in this special election.”
The deadline for qualifying with major political parties will be Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The deadline for all independent candidates and/or minor parties is Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
House District 11 includes portions of Cullman and Blount counties.
