Entrepreneur and community leader Tanveer Patel has officially announced her candidacy for the Hoover City Council, emphasizing a vision of economic prosperity, inclusive growth, and civic engagement.
“As I take this step, I am reminded that ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,’” Patel said in her campaign launch statement. “Just like many of you, we are all on the journey of making our world a better place. That’s why I have decided to throw my name in the arena to run for City Council in Hoover.”
A prominent figure in Alabama’s business and technology sectors, Patel co-founded and served as CEO of ConcertIDC, a Birmingham-based technology firm. She has been a staunch advocate for economic development, entrepreneurship, and job creation, serving as President of the Birmingham Venture Club and as past Chairman of TechBirmingham. Patel also played a key role in launching the Alabama Angel Network, helping local startups grow and create employment opportunities.
In addition to her business leadership, Patel has dedicated herself to community service. She co-founded the Red Crescent Clinic of Alabama in Hoover, which provides free healthcare to more than 700 uninsured patients annually. She and her family regularly volunteer at the clinic, reinforcing her commitment to public service.
Patel’s campaign centers on strengthening Hoover as a multigenerational city that supports families, professionals, and retirees alike. She is focused on fostering economic development and job creation by building a strong business network that helps local businesses succeed. She also plans to enhance technology in schools and create job pathways for students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the workforce. Another key priority is retaining young talent by strengthening Hoover’s infrastructure and providing opportunities that encourage young professionals to build their futures in the city rather than relocating to major urban centers like Chicago, New York, or Seattle.
“I want to be your voice for Hoover,” Patel said. “I want to be someone who carries your concerns to the city council and comes up with solutions—not ‘no’ answers. Please join me as I take this walk to be the next city council member from Hoover. I cannot do this alone. We need your time, money, and talents. Together, we will make a better Hoover.”
Patel has been widely recognized for her leadership, earning honors such as being named a *Woman Who Shapes the State* in 2017. She is a graduate of Leadership Hoover, Leadership Birmingham, Momentum Leadership for Women, and the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program. *Upstarts Journal* has also recognized her as one of the 100 most influential thinkers in the nation.
As Hoover prepares for the upcoming municipal elections, Patel’s campaign is expected to focus on her track record of business success and community engagement as she makes her case to voters.
