U.S. Senator Katie Britt, R-Ala., Wednesday announced her subcommittee assignments on the Senate Judiciary Committee in the 119th Congress.

“Senator Britt was appointed to serve on four subcommittees, including the Subcommittee on Border Security and Immigration, which will be instrumental in creating legislative solutions to support President Trump’s efforts to secure the southern border, and the Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism, which has oversight over the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and anti-terrorism enforcement authority,” the press release stated.

“I am honored to join the Border Security and Immigration and the Crime and Counterterrorism Subcommittees. Both of these subcommittees will play a pivotal role in making America safer. I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues to build on the success of the Laken Riley Act with additional pieces of legislation to strengthen border security and interior immigration enforcement, including reducing the flow of deadly fentanyl into our country. I am committed to fighting for America First policies to secure and defend our homeland while giving our law enforcement officers the tools and resources to combat threats,” said Senator Britt.

Senator Britt is also joining the Subcommittees on Intellectual Property and Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights, which “will both be instrumental in helping unleash innovation, protecting American IP from China, and preserving market access for small businesses,” the release described.

“Strengthening our nation’s IP protections will help usher in a new era of American prosperity, and it will provide an opportunity to counter one of the many unfair, malicious practices the Chinese Communist Party deploys against the United States. Alabama’s innovators, entrepreneurs, and small businesses are at the forefront of innovation and groundbreaking discoveries, and I am committed to ensuring their continued competitiveness as our economy evolves—that requires IP protections and fair market access,” she continued.

Senator Britt was the first ever Republican female attorney appointed to the Senate Judiciary Committee when she joined the committee at the beginning of the 119th Congress. She will remain on the Senate Appropriations, Banking, and Rules Committees.
