The Alabama Republican Party released a statement Tuesday following Gov. Kay Ivey’s 2025 State of the State address.

“The Alabama Republican Party is thankful for Governor Kay Ivey’s vision for Alabama, as outlined in her 2025 State of the State Address. Under her leadership, Alabama has achieved significant progress, especially in the area of education, where she has supported school choice, curriculum transparency, and banning the teaching of divisive concepts without parental consent,” the release stated.

Chairman John Wahl commended the governor’s dedication to improving Alabama’s education system, noting the impressive gains students have made.

“Governor Ivey’s leadership in education is clear,” Wahl said. “Alabama’s students are achieving historic progress in reading and math, and her continued commitment to initiatives like the CHOOSE Act is setting the foundation for long-term future success. Her comments on school choice, parental rights, and returning the Ten Commandments to classrooms were spot on. The Alabama Republican Party stands with the governor in ensuring our children receive the quality education they deserve.”

Wahl continued, “The Party is also thankful for the Governor Ivey’s support of defining genders as only male and female, as well as cutting taxes to leave more money in the pockets of Alabama citizens.”

Public safety was another key focus of the governor’s address, with a strong emphasis on supporting law enforcement and cracking down on crime. Wahl emphasized the importance of these efforts, saying, “Crime is a serious issue across the state of Alabama. We may not be a border state, but our communities are suffering from the effects of open border policies. We applaud Governor Ivey recognizing this need and for making public safety a top priority this legislative session.”

“As Alabama moves forward, the Republican Party remains committed to working alongside Governor Ivey and legislative leaders to continue delivering on the issues that matter most to the people of our great state,” the release concluded.
