U.S. Senator Katie Britt, R-Ala., expressed her support for the confirmation of former U.S. Representative Sean Duffy as Secretary of Transportation. The Senate confirmed President Trump’s nominee in a bipartisan vote of 77-22, paving the way for Duffy to lead efforts to modernize the nation’s infrastructure.

In a statement following the confirmation vote, Senator Britt highlighted the importance of infrastructure updates to revitalize the U.S. economy under President Trump’s leadership.

“President Trump is committed to ensuring America’s economy gets back on track, which necessitates updating aging, crumbling infrastructure for safer, more efficient travel. Sean Duffy is ready to implement that agenda as Secretary of Transportation. Sean championed strategic infrastructure during his five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, and he has a track record of success in delivering for the American people with commonsense solutions,” Britt said.

Senator Britt emphasized Duffy’s potential to address critical issues affecting both Alabama and the nation, including outdated transportation systems and regulatory inefficiencies.

“I was proud to support Sean Duffy as our next Secretary of Transportation because I firmly believe he will ensure Alabama and America’s infrastructure—air, land, and sea—is modernized to support America’s families, farmers, small businesses, and industry. He will be a tremendous partner working with Congress to fix America’s broken permitting system and shifting away from the Biden-Harris Administration’s radical Green New Deal policies that derail so many projects,” she added.

Duffy’s confirmation signals a renewed focus on infrastructure improvements and regulatory reform, aligning with priorities outlined by the Trump administration to bolster economic growth and improve transportation systems nationwide.
