U.S. Senators Katie Britt, R-Ala., Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and several of their Senate colleagues recently introduced a resolution declaring October 10 as ‘American Girls in Sports Day.’

The resolution introduced by Senators Britt and Blackburn would recognize October 10 as a day to celebrate the accomplishments of “female athletes and recognize the importance of Title IX in protecting biological women in sports,” the release stated.

“For daughters like mine and future generations, we need to celebrate and protect women and girls in sports. I will fight against any assault on Title IX, which for decades has allowed girls and women to have the opportunity to compete safely and fairly,” said Senator Britt. “I am grateful for Senator Blackburn’s leadership and will continue working with my colleagues to ensure fairness for women and girls.”

Senator Britt previously joined Senator Blackburn in introducing this resolution in the 118th Congress, but Senate Democrats blocked it.

“Young women across the country have suffered injuries, faced sexual harassment, and lost accolades because they were forced to share spaces designed for women with men,” said Senator Blackburn. “The vast majority of Americans agree athletes should only be allowed to compete on teams that correspond with their biological sex. The left’s cowardly pandering continues to put innocent girls in harm’s way, and we must put an end to this assault on women once and for all.”

The ‘American Girls in Sports Day’ resolution is also co-sponsored by Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., James Lankford, R-Okla., Roger Marshall, R-Kan., Ron Johnson , R-Wisc., Jim Risch, R-Idaho, Thom Tillis, R-N.C., Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, John Hoeven, R-N.D., Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., John Cornyn, R-Texas, Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., Roger Wicker, R-Miss., Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., Steve Daines, R-Mont., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Mike Lee, R-Utah, Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, Tim Sheehy, R-Mont., Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., Bill Cassidy, R-La., Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., and Deb Fischer, R-Neb..

The bill now heads to President Donald Trump’s desk to be signed into law.

Tulsi Gabbard may be a new and compelling voice, but she is not the standard-bearer we need.

This legislation is the most significant immigration enforcement and border security related bill to pass the Senate in nearly three decades.

The phrase “Only Katie Britt could do it” may soon be repeated over and over again.
