Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl has been re-elected to serve as Vice Chairman of the Republican National Committee for the Southern Region. The election took place during the RNC Winter Meeting, where Chairman Wahl earned the continued confidence and support of Republican leaders from across the region.
As vice chairman, Wahl will lead and represent the 14 states comprising the Southern Region, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
“I’m deeply honored to have the trust and confidence of my colleagues to continue serving as Vice Chairman for the Southern Region,” Chairman Wahl stated. “The Southern Region has long been the backbone of conservative values in America, and I am committed to building on our region’s successes to ensure a strong future for our party and our nation. Together, we will focus on uniting and energizing our grassroots supporters as we prepare for the upcoming election cycle.”

Chairman Wahl was first elected Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party in February 2021 and re-elected in February 2023, both times by acclamation. During his tenure, he has overseen record-breaking election victories for Alabama Republicans and was seated on the Committee on Arrangements for the 2024 Republican National Convention.
He is the youngest state party chairman in the Republican National Committee and has been featured on prominent national platforms such as Good Morning America, National Public Radio, CNN, NewsNation, and ABC News.
Prior to serving as ALGOP Chairman, Wahl was the Senior Vice Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party and has been active in Republican politics for over a decade. He was a member of Alabama’s Electoral College delegation in 2020 and contributed to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville’s transition team. Additionally, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Alabama Public Library Service board.
Outside of politics, Chairman Wahl is a professional butterfly farmer, raising butterflies for zoos, botanical gardens, and exhibits nationwide.
