Alabama State Senator April Weaver, R-Brierfield, has been selected for the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2025 Fellowship class, a program dedicated to promoting economic freedom and limited government principles. Established in 2020, the fellowship is a year-long initiative that includes monthly virtual meetings and two in-person seminars, aiming to equip civic leaders with the knowledge and skills to advocate for free-market policies.

Senator Weaver, representing Alabama’s 14th Senate District—which encompasses parts of Shelby, Bibb, and Chilton Counties—brings a wealth of experience to the Fellowship. She previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2020, becoming the first woman to chair the House Health Committee. In 2020, she was appointed by President Donald Trump as regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Region IV, overseeing efforts in eight southern states.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Sen. Weaver stated, “Throughout my life and during my service in President Trump’s first administration, I have been guided by my deep conservative beliefs, the traditional values instilled in me by my parents, and a full understanding that the free market system and strict limits on government intrusion are essential ingredients in a successful economy.”

David McIntosh, President of the Club for Growth Foundation, welcomed Weaver, noting, “Through her civic leadership, Sen. Weaver has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing and protecting the economic principles that are at the heart of the American spirit—free markets, limited government, and individual liberty.”

The Club for Growth Foundation Fellowship has grown to include 266 fellows across 40 states and the District of Columbia. The program’s curriculum covers topics such as constitutional frameworks that support economic growth, the role of free markets in problem-solving, and media training to effectively communicate pro-growth messages.

Senator Weaver’s selection highlights her dedication to conservative economic principles and her ongoing commitment to serving Alabama and the broader community through effective leadership and advocacy.
