On January 8, J.D. Snoddy was sworn in for his fifth term as Winston County Circuit Clerk. The oath was administered by Alabama Supreme Court Justice Kelli Wise, with Snoddy’s wife, Theresa Snoddy, holding the Bible. The ceremony took place during the Winston County Republican Women’s meeting at the Lodge at Looney’s Amphitheater Complex and Cultural Center.

Snoddy’s extensive public service career includes two terms on the Double Springs Town Council. As Circuit Clerk, he serves as the chief administrative and fiscal officer for the court system at the district and circuit court levels in Winston County. This elected position, established in the Alabama Constitution, carries a six-year term. The Circuit Clerk’s office is responsible for maintaining case records, handling financial transactions, administering oaths, managing affidavits, scheduling juries, and being present during trials.

The Winston County Republican Women, who hosted the event, are dedicated to informing the public through political and legislative education, training, and activity. They aim to recruit, train, and elect Republican candidates, protect the integrity of the electoral process, and promote the principles and policies of the Republican Party.

The ceremony’s venue, Looney’s Amphitheater Complex and Cultural Center, has recently undergone significant renovations. In December 2023, the complex received an $850,000 grant to aid in its restoration efforts, aiming to promote tourism and the arts throughout Winston County and the surrounding area.

Snoddy’s reappointment reflects the community’s continued trust in his leadership and dedication to public service. His ongoing commitment to the judicial system and local governance continues to contribute significantly to the administration of justice in Winston County.
