U.S. Senator Katie Britt, R-Ala., recently joined Senator John Hoeven, R-N.D., Congressman August Pfluger, R-Texas, and 11 of their Republican colleagues to introduce a bicameral Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval to block implementation of the Biden Administration’s Natural Gas Tax, which was passed as part of Democrats’ so-called Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

“Over the past four years, the American people have been drowning in high prices from the grocery store to the gas pump. It is past time to unleash American energy dominance and drive down costs for hardworking families,” said Senator Britt. “Blocking the Natural Gas Tax is an important step towards taking the lead on an America-first approach to energy policy. I will continue to prioritize legislation that unshackles our domestic energy industry and grows economic opportunity across our nation.”

“American households and businesses depend every day on access to affordable and reliable energy,” said Senator Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. “The best way to bring down prices for U.S. consumers is to increase supply. That’s why we’re working to rescind policies like the Natural Gas Tax, among the many other costly and burdensome taxes and regulations imposed under the Biden administration. Doing so will help unleash our domestic energy production and make our nation energy dominant once again.”

Senators Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., Mike Lee, R-Utah, James Lankford, R-Okla., Steve Daines, R-Mont., Roger Marshall, R-Kan., Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., James Risch, R-Idaho, and Rick Scott, R-Fla., and Congressman Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, in the U.S. House of Representatives also joined the CRA.

Earlier this year, Senator Britt joined Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in introducing the Natural Gas Tax Repeal Act. This legislation, which would eliminate this methane emissions fee created by the IRA, was originally introduced by Congressman Pfluger in the House and passed as a part of HR1023, the Cutting Green Corruption and Taxes Act.
