For many in the LGBTQIA+ community, the holidays can bring challenges, particularly for those who cannot return home or face a lack of acceptance at traditional family gatherings. To address this, Central Alabama Pride is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal, creating a safe and welcoming space to celebrate the season.

The event will take place on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024 from  11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Magic City Acceptance Center, located at 3130 3rd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233.

“This event is about reclaiming the holidays as a time of joy and belonging,” said Josh Coleman, President of Central Alabama Pride. “For those who may feel alone or unwelcome, we want to offer a space where they can celebrate who they are and connect with a supportive community.”

Central Alabama Pride emphasizes the importance of unity and resilience during the holidays. “We are dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging at a time when acceptance and love are more important than ever,” the organization stated.

This Thanksgiving gathering serves as a reminder that community and connection can create a sense of home for everyone, especially those in need of support during the holiday season.
