On Wednesday, November 20, Governor Kay Ivey hosted 21 Trooper Trainees from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) at the Alabama Governor’s Mansion. The governor greeted the trainees on the mansion’s steps, expressed her gratitude and congratulations, and invited them to a courtyard reception in their honor.
Governor Ivey stated, “I was honored to host and meet with our 21 trooper graduates today. Public safety is paramount in Alabama, and these men and women will play an important role in keeping our state safe. I shared that if they keep working hard and do their job well then I know they will surely make Alabama proud.”
She concluded her remarks by assuring the trainees of her unwavering support.
The graduation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 21, at 11:30 a.m. at the ALEA Training Center on the campus of Wallace State Community College in Selma. The trainees have completed a rigorous 10-week program to become ALEA troopers. Upon graduation, 20 will join ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, and one will serve in the Marine Patrol Division.
This marks ALEA’s second trooper class of the year; the first graduated 25 troopers last summer. Governor Ivey’s administration has consistently emphasized public safety, with ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor noting that recent graduations are a result of the governor and legislature’s continued support and funding.
The addition of these new troopers aims to enhance law enforcement presence and safety across Alabama.
