Renowned Birmingham photographer David Graves is set to release his highly anticipated coffee table book, “Alabama Faith,” this October. This exquisite collection showcases the stunning stained glass windows from 75 churches across Alabama, offering a visual journey through the state’s rich history, faith, and artistry.
“Alabama Faith” features over 140 breathtaking photographs of stained glass windows from various denominations, including Methodist, Catholic, Episcopal, United Methodist, Presbyterian, and Baptist churches. Ranging from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century, these windows capture the essence of Alabama’s spiritual heritage and the stories embedded within these sacred spaces.
“With ‘Alabama Faith,’ I hope to invite viewers to slow down and appreciate the intricate beauty and craftsmanship of these stained glass windows,” says photographer David Graves. “Each window is a testament to the community, faith, and family that have shaped Alabama’s history. This book is more than just a collection of photographs—it’s a celebration of the bigger picture that connects us all.”
In addition to the captivating photographs, “Alabama Faith” includes stories from the churches about their stained glass windows, providing deeper insight into the cultural and spiritual significance of these works of art. The book serves as a reminder of the enduring beauty and faith that resonate through Alabama’s churches, encouraging readers to reflect on their own memories and experiences.
David commented “The colors, the pews, and the light shining through the stained glass tell a universal story. Week after week, generation after generation, a message of hope resonates. People have walked through these doors weary, hopeless, and tired, only to be met with grace, hope, and love.”
“Alabama Faith” will be available for purchase on Amazon starting in early October.
