Alabama Big 10 Mayors announce City Life Photo competition winners

Residents of Alabama’s 10 largest cities were given the chance to submit photos of their cities.

The Alabama Big 10 Mayors announced Wednesday the winners of their 2024 city life photo competition – a contest where residents of Alabama’s 10 largest cities were given the chance to submit photos of their cities in an attempt to win and display what makes their city unique. 

Mekam Kingsley won the grand prize in this year’s photo competition with his entry from Mobile.

Additionally, the individuals listed below received the most likes for each Alabama city:

The winner of this competition was selected based on the number of likes each photo submission received on the Alabama Big 10 Mayors’ Facebook page. The photo with the most likes overall won the statewide competition – along with a $500 Visa gift card.

In total, there were 223 photos submitted, and the overall winner received more than 400 votes. In total, more than 10,000 votes were cast in this competition.

“For the second consecutive year since starting this competition, we have seen hundreds of photographs submitted from cities across the state of Alabama,” said the Alabama Big 10 Mayors. “There are clearly plenty of talented photographers from each of our 10 cities, and this photo competition continues to serve as a testament to the pride that our residents feel for their communities.

“Congratulations to the winner and thank you to all who participated.”

Representing Alabama’s ten biggest cities – and with 75 percent of the state’s population living in their metro areas – the Alabama Big 10 Mayors work together to address the state’s most important issues and make Alabama a safer, better place for all its residents.

The Alabama Big 10 Mayors include Auburn Mayor Ron Anders, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling, Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba, Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Madison Mayor Paul Finley, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson, Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed and Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox.
