Yellowhammer Fund, a 501(c)3 abortion advocacy and reproductive justice organization serving Alabama, Mississippi, and the Deep South, announced the debut of their Yellowhammer Fund Gala in Washington D.C. This groundbreaking event will bring together supporters of reproductive health, rights, and justice for an evening of entertainment on 14th Street on Saturday, September 28th.

The Yellowhammer Fund Gala will be a historic moment for the organization as it marks the first time the gala has taken place in Washington D.C. “With its bold and unwavering commitment to promoting abortion advocacy and reproductive justice through direct aid, policy advocacy and more, Yellowhammer Fund has become a leading force in the fight for Reproductive Justice in the Deep South,” the organization stated.

Yellowhammer Fund is a reproductive justice leader in Alabama, a state with a total abortion ban, where minimum wage is only $7.25, Medicaid still hasn’t been expanded, and the maternal mortality and pregnancy criminalization rates are the highest in the nation.

“Yellowhammer Fund’s impact in Alabama, Mississippi, and the Deep South is remarkable. Since March 2020, the organization has delivered over 30,000 emergency contraceptives, providing vital support to individuals in need of reproductive healthcare. We have served well over 500 families with essential supplies like diapers and period products, trained 50 Fellows, and are continuing the fight for abortion access for Alabamians. Our tireless efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of countless Southerners, highlighting the urgency and importance of their cause,” said the group.

“Yellowhammer Fund believes that abortion access is central to liberation. Despite threats of criminalization and conservative extremism, we remain dedicated to our mission of Full Spectrum Reproductive Justice and bodily autonomy,” says Yellowhammer Fund’s Executive Director, Jenice Fountain. “It’s been 2 years of fighting back since the overturning of Roe v Wade; join us as we take time to center joy and restoration.”

The Yellowhammer Fund Gala’s debut in Washington D.C. is a significant milestone for the organization. With a bold approach, the gala promises to be a night to remember, showcasing the strength and resilience of the Yellowhammer Fund’s supporters as they continue to champion reproductive health and justice.
