Add the Alabama Minority Leader to the chorus of Democrats lining up behind Vice President Kamala Harris.

While noting Harris’ contributions to the Biden administration’s legacy of success, Rep. Anthony Daniels, D-Huntsville, offered his endorsement, calling Harris the “next generation” of leaders.

“With the greatest enthusiasm, I proudly endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the office of the President of the United States,” Daniels wrote. “She has earned my vote and my support because I know she will fight for your freedom and your future.”

Daniels also noted the Biden/Harris administration’s many successes, including the positive impacts the administration’s various initiatives had in Alabama.

“The pro-growth policies of the Biden-Harris Administration, such as the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan Act, have been a tremendous economic win for the people of Alabama,” Daniels said. “Unemployment is low, our roads are being fixed, college debt is being forgiven for many, and prescription drug costs are finally being capped. The Biden-Harris team has accomplished so much that positively impacts the lives of every Alabamian.”

Just two weeks ago, Alabama’s entire Republican congressional delegation were praising the awarding of $550 million in federal funds – made possible by the ARPA program – to improve the I-10 bridge in Mobile. The improvements are projected to result in billions of dollars of revenue for the state and state businesses.

Additionally, thousands of Alabamians have had their college debt forgiven under a plan implemented by the Biden administration, and despite the protests of Republicans.

Daniels also pointed out Harris’ advocacy for female reproductive rights – a major factor in every election since the disastrous overturning of Roe v. Wade. That issue is certain to be a determining factor in the 2024 presidential election, and Harris’ track record on the issue should give Democrats a significant advantage.

“(The administration’s) historic legacy of success would not have been possible without Vice President Harris’ tie-breaking votes in the Senate and her tireless advocacy for hard working, middle-class Americans,” Daniels said. “I applaud her strong advocacy for expanding reproductive healthcare. She also has a proven track record of protecting and standing up for those who for so long have been underrepresented and underserved in our communities.”
