Rep. Sewell to kick off National Small Business Week with “Terri Talks” virtual discussion

The virtual discussion will focus on the barriers that Ms. Smith has overcome throughout her entrepreneurial journey and the vital role that small businesses play in our economy.

On Monday, April 29th at 3 p.m. CDT, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, AL-07, will kick off National Small Business Week with a “Terri Talks” virtual discussion entitled “Sipping on Success: The Story of Selma’s Award-Winning Small Business Owner Jackie Smith.” Joining Rep. Sewell will be Ms. Jackie Smith, owner of The Coffee Shoppe in Selma. Next week, at a special ceremony in Washington D.C., Ms. Smith will be awarded the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 2024 Phoenix Award for Outstanding Disaster Recovery Efforts.

The virtual discussion will focus on the barriers that Ms. Smith has overcome throughout her entrepreneurial journey and the vital role that small businesses play in our economy.

It will stream live on Sewell’s official FacebookTwitter, and YouTube pages.

For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week, which acknowledges the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year, National Small Business Week takes place April 28 – May 4, 2024, and is when SBA officially recognizes their hard work, ingenuity, and dedication, including their contributions to the economy.
