The Energy Institute of Alabama (EIA) will celebrate Alabama Lineman Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 17, at Montgomery Whitewater. Joining the EIA will be representatives from its members Alabama Power Company, Alabama Rural Electric Company, Alabama Municipal Electric Authority, Electric Cities of Alabama, PowerSouth Energy and Tennessee Valley Authority. The event will begin at 10 a.m.

Lineworkers often put themselves in harm’s way to restore critical power, often in dangerous weather conditions, to communities who are in need. Lineman Appreciation Day recognizes the contributions of the men and women who protect public safety and ensure that Alabamians have reliable access to electricity. This event is part of Lineman Appreciation Week.

State Sen. April Weaver, Public Service Commission President Twinkle Cavanaugh, WSFA Chief Meteorologist Josh Johnson, and local linemen are scheduled to attend.

There will also be a lineman speaking to present a lineman’s perspective.

EIA will present the Outstanding Service Award, which recognizes a lineworker for going above and beyond their duty.
