On Thursday, an incarcerated individual who received substantial media attention was found dead in an Alabama Department of Corrections facility.

Adam Klifton Bond’s death confirmed the fears of his family.

In December, during the last Prison Oversight Meeting, Bond’s aunt, Barbara Turner, testified how afraid she was for Bond in Alabama’s prison system.

“On Thursday, January 4, 2024, an inmate death was reported at St. Clair Correctional Facility,” ADOC replied. “Inmate Klifton Adam Bond was discovered unresponsive in his cell, and staff immediately began life-saving measures. He was then transferred to the Health Care Unit where life-saving measures continued but were unsuccessful. Bond was pronounced deceased by the attending physician.  The ADOC Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating Bond’s death. The cause of death is pending an autopsy and the conclusion of the investigation”.
