In light of the recent surge in attacks on Israel, U.S. Senator Katie Britt, R-Ala., alongside Alabama Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter, R-Rainsville, have voiced strong condemnations.

Senator Britt, in a pressing statement released over the weekend, explicitly blamed the Iranian-backed Hamas for initiating what she describes as an “unprecedented assault” on Israel. The depth of her concern was evident as she shared, “Alongside countless others across our nation, my family and I are praying for the people of Israel today. The barrage of barbaric terrorist attacks unleashed on Israel by ground, sea, and air is truly unprecedented in our time.”

Senator Britt, while asserting Alabama’s unwavering support for Israel, took the opportunity to criticize the Biden Administration’s Middle Eastern policy. She particularly spotlighted the Administration’s recent “$6 billion ransom payment to Iran”, linking it directly to the exacerbation of the current situation. Her sharp words for the Administration were clear: “The Biden Administration’s appeasement put blood in the water, and now it has more blood on its hands.”

Concurrently, she was emphatic about Israel’s inalienable right to safeguard its territory and people from such attacks.

Switching focus to the state level, Speaker Ledbetter, reflecting on Alabama’s longstanding ties with Israel, especially emphasized the state’s stance in the light of the present Hamas-driven confrontations.

“For the past 80 years, Alabama has supported the nation of Israel,” Ledbetter began, echoing a sentiment that resonates deeply with many in his state. “and we reaffirm our commitment today following the unprovoked surprise attacks launched by Palestinian Hamas militants.”

The Alabama Speaker drew attention to the myriad of joint resolutions historically passed by the Alabama Legislature, each underscoring the profound bond Alabama shares with Israel. It’s evident that, amidst the chaotic landscape of the Middle East, Alabama remains steadfast in its commitment to Israel’s pursuit of lasting peace.
