True The Vote, the national nonpartisan organization dedicated to election integrity, and multimedia producer AmericanInk, will be hosting an Election Integrity Forum in Montgomery, Alabama on April 27th. The Forum will be held at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre, 201 Tallapoosa Street, Montgomery, from 7 p.m–9 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The Forum will feature Republican Primary Candidates for Governor, Secretary of State and U.S. Senate, and is being produced by AmericanInk and sponsored by True The Vote.

“We’ve just come out of an election cycle where there was a lot of frustration and confusion,” Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True The Vote, said. “The purpose of this Forum is to have a candid conversation about  Alabama elections; what works and what doesn’t.”

“This is a great opportunity for voters to hear the candidates’ thoughts on the current status of Alabama’s election system, including the candidate’s vision for how the process can be improved for future election cycles.

“To most people, the inner workings of our electoral process can be a little mystifying. There’s a lot that happens behind-the-scenes between the polling station and the final results. True The Vote works to demystify those steps so more citizens have a better understanding about the process, and how to make sure there’s integrity and accountability at every step.

“The Forum in Montgomery is the first of what we hope will be many more. We’re grateful to the people of Alabama, and especially Alabama Republicans, for responding to us when we reached out about hosting  the Forum. We also reached out to the Alabama Democrats, and we hope that they will respond, as well. We think that their voters deserve the same opportunity to hear from their candidates, and discuss the same issues, as Republicans.

“Fair, free and honest elections aren’t a Republican issue. They’re not a Democratic issue. They’re an American issue.”

Legislature

Currently, Alabamians can only vote early if they are casting absentee ballots with a valid excuse.

Opinion

While every 4 years people question the validity of the Electoral College, it seems that the concept has generally stood the test of time.

Featured Opinion

Republicans are masterful at pandering and heaping praises upon themselves. Democrats should give that a shot.

Elections

Historically, Alabama has low statewide voter turnout when compared to national averages.
