Thursday was not only a deeply somber day in recent American history, it’s an infuriating one.
Joe Biden has displayed gross incompetence and an inability to effectively lead our nation as commander-in-chief.
He has shown that he can’t protect us overseas. He can’t protect us at our southern border. And he can’t protect us in our communities.
First and foremost, please join Wesley and I in prayer for the loved ones of our fallen heroes, as well as for the wounded and everyone who continues to be in harm’s way in Afghanistan.
John 15:13 tells us, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
We also know from Matthew 5:9 – “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
We are unceasingly praying for everyone on the ground in Kabul and across Afghanistan.
Our incredible service men and women there continue to put their lives on the line to keep our nation, Americans in-country, allies and innocent civilians safe.
America’s troops are the best of us, and we will never be able to repay the debt we owe them.
But we can – and must – honor them and do everything in our power to support them, as well as their families, who also sacrifice tremendously for our nation.
With that in mind, Thursday’s attack must immediately be met with strength.
If the enemy continues to sense no real deterrence from the Biden Administration, the violence, chaos and humanitarian crisis will only grow worse.
Terrorists – and those who harbor them – have no place on this planet. America’s response must be mighty and swift.
Yet, the Biden Administration has not only allowed the Taliban to dictate to the United States, but they are also relying on the Taliban to keep our citizens and our allies safe in Kabul. This type of foolhardy decision-making – the same strategic blundering that led the Biden Administration to abandon Bagram Air Force Base before getting our people out of Afghanistan safely – is the consequence of a president who is weak at home and abroad.
I was shocked to see the President admit to the nation yesterday afternoon that there very well could have been lists of American names in Kabul provided to the Taliban. His address fell well short of meeting the moment, but his actions are even more disturbing.
Just look at the decision to leave our military equipment, weaponry and vehicles for the Taliban to use and/or sell to other adversaries.
It’s been reported that the Taliban now have access to $85 billion worth of American military equipment and more Black Hawk helicopters than 85 percent of countries in the world.
“We don’t have a complete picture, obviously, of where every article of defense materials has gone, but certainly, a fair amount of it has fallen into the hands of the Taliban,” Biden National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said.
This isn’t a partisan issue. Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike should be united here. This is a disaster and a failure of leadership.
It’s also the latest evidence that we need fresh blood in Washington, both in the White House and in the halls of Congress. If we keep electing the same old ineffective career politicians, we will only continue to get the same results.
Ryan Crocker, who served as United States Ambassador to Afghanistan under the Obama Administration, this week lamented that the Biden withdrawal “has been an enormous morale boost for Islamic radicals everywhere.”
May God bless our troops and every American behind enemy lines right now.
