New unemployment claims declined last week

63 percent of the new claims were reported to be due to the pandemic.

There were 7,290 new unemployment claims filed last week, according to the Alabama Department of Labor, down from 8,314 the previous week.

Of the new claims, 4,609 are estimated to be related to COVID-19, representing 63 percent.
