New unemployment claims dropped last week

The percentage of new claims estimated to be due to the pandemic was 73 percent.

There were 13,994 new unemployment claims filed last week, according to the Alabama Department of Labor, down from 16,506 the previous week.

Of the new claims, 10,189 are estimated to be related to COVID-19, representing 73 percent. That increased from 67 percent of the previous week’s claims.
