Luverne mayor Ed Beasley endorses Jeff Coleman

Republican congressional candidate Jeff Coleman on Monday announced that he has been endorsed by Luverne Mayor Ed Beasley.

“I want to thank Mayor Ed Beasley for his endorsement of my candidacy to become your next Congressman,” Coleman said in a statement. “Mayor Beasley has been a great public servant to the town of Luverne, and I look forward to working with him to continue to improve our communities!”

Mayor Beasley stated, “Jeff Coleman is a strong candidate for Congress and I know that he will represent our district and ensure that our voice is heard in Washington.”

Luverne, population 2,751, is the county seat of Crenshaw County.

Coleman, a Dothan area businessman, is running in the July 14 Republican primary runoff. His Second Congressional District opponent is former State Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise).

Coleman stepped down as the CEO of Coleman Worldwide Moving, a fourth generation Alabama based company, to run for Congress.

Coleman is a former Chairman of the Business Council of Alabama (BCA) and is one of the wealthiest men in Alabama.

Coleman has been endorsed by both the BCA and the Alabama Farmers Federation.

Incumbent Congresswoman Martha Roby (R-Montgomery) is retiring from Congress when her current term ends at the end of the year.

The winner of the Republican CD2 nomination will face Democratic nominee Phyllis Harvey-Hall in the November 3 general election.
