Alabama Democratic Women announce that they will be holding their first annual State Conference on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Hoover Country Club (3140 Club Drive Birmingham, AL 35226). The SOLD OUT event will consist of various trainings, speakers, panel discussions, and feature keynote speaker, Valerie Jarrett.
Valerie Jarrett was the longest serving senior advisor to President Barack Obama. She oversaw the Offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs and chaired the White House Council on Women and Girls. Before joining the White House, she served as the chief executive officer of The Habitat Company in Chicago, chairman of the Chicago Transit Board, commissioner of Planning and Development, and deputy chief of staff for Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley. Jarrett has received numerous awards and honorary degrees, including Time’s “100 Most Influential People.” She received her B.A. from Stanford University in 1978 and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981. She is currently a senior advisor to the Obama Foundation and Attn, and she is a senior distinguished fellow at the University of Chicago Law School. Her memoir Finding My Voice: My Journey to the West Wing and the Path Forwardwas published in 2019.

Alabama Democratic Women is the Alabama Chapter of the National Federation of Democratic Women and received its charter in April 2019. Its mission is to work to unite the women of the Democratic Party, to promote the cause of the Democratic Party, and to encourage full participation of women at every level of the Democratic Party Structure with the goal of influencing the selection, nomination, and election of Democratic Women in Alabama.
