Saturday, Susan Treadaway. The wife of State Representative Allen Treadaway (R-Morris) has died from a battle with cancer. She was 55.

Governor Kay Ivey (R) said on Twitter, “I offer my prayers and condolences to Rep. Treadaway in the loss of his wife, Susan. May our God of comfort surround him and his family in the days to come.”

Alabama House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter (R – Rainsville) said in statement: “The members of the House Republican Caucus are saddened to learn of the passing of Susan Treadaway, the wife of State Rep. Allen Treadaway, but we take solace in the knowledge that she is free from cancer and experiencing a joyous peace that only God and Heaven can provide.”

“Serving in the Alabama House is an all-in commitment that requires the dedication of both our representatives and their families, which is why we have a club exclusively for legislative spouses,” Ledbetter continued. As a result, when a representative loses a dedicated partner like Susan, we feel like we have lost one of our own colleagues. At this difficult time, our members are joining together and lifting Allen and his family up with our love, support, and prayers for solace and comfort..”

Allen Treadaway is also the Assistant Police Chief for the City of Birmingham.

“We stand in solidarity and support of our own Assistant Police Chief Allen Treadaway, whose wife Susan transitioned this morning following her bout with cancer,” Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said. “You have served this city well, and that same city is here to support you and your family in this time of loss.”

Speaker of the House Mac McCutcheon (R-Monrovia) said, “I was deeply saddened today when I learned that Rep. Allen Treadaway’s wife, Susan, took her heavenly flight early this morning. The members and staff of the House of Representatives ask that you lift the Treadaway family up in prayer.”
