The step to being re-elected governor wasn’t too high for Kay Ivey.
Ivey cruised to an easy win over challenger Walt Maddox on Tuesday night, with most national media outlets calling the race for Ivey just minutes after polls closed.
That Ivey won wasn’t a surprise in the deeply red state, but that her size of victory — taking in around 60 percent of the vote and essentially matching previous Republican wins — was surprising.
“The people of Alabama have spoken loud and clear,” Ivey told her supporters. “They want to keep Alabama moving in the right direction.”
