SOS Offers Online Voter Registration, Free App

MONTGOMERY—Secretary of State John Merrill released a video yesterday, hoping to motivate voter registration and participation in the upcoming election.

“We are excited to introduce this video to encourage as many people as possible to become registered to vote and to remind others to update their voter record before the municipal elections in August, as well as the General Election in November,” said Secretary Merrill.

The video, posted on YouTube, instructs unregistered voters on methods of registering and checking for elections, via the Secretary of State’s website.

Citizens can apply for registration online, download a mail-in registration form, or submit to receive a registration form from the Secretary of State’s office. They have also made available a free app from the Apple Store or the Google Play Store. The app can be used to apply, locate polling places and check dates of upcoming elections.

Merrill added, “Please like or share this video often on social media or refer people to our YouTube Channel. We want every eligible US citizen that is a resident of Alabama to exercise their right to vote.”
