Heidi Cruz Event in Montgomery Moved to Bigger Venue

By Brandon Moseley

heidi-cruzOn Wednesday, Nov 4 the wife of U.S. Senator from Texas and Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz, Heidi Cruz, will be in Montgomery for a free meet and greet event at 4:00 PM.  The event had been scheduled for the back room of Wintzler’s Oyster House; but has been moved to the Embassy Suites Hotel because of the demand.

The Cruz campaign said in a statement: “Due to overwhelming demand, we’ve had to update the location for the Montgomery Meet and Greet.”  The Heidi Cruz event will be from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Embassy Suites in the Governors Room at 300 Tallapoosa St; Montgomery, AL 36104.  To RSVP for the Montgomery event click here:

Sen. Ted Cruz is married to Heidi Nelson (age 42) of San Luis Obispo, California, who manages the Wealth Management Unit in Houston for Goldman Sachs.  Heidi has taken a hiatus from her investment banking career to help Ted on his presidential campaign.  The couple met when both were working on the presidential campaign of then Texas Gov. George W. Bush (R).  They have two children.

Senator Cruz gained applause and national attention by attacking the often bizarre antics of the CNBC debate moderators last Wednesday night.  Sen. Cruz asked, “The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media.  This is not a cage match and you look at the questions, ‘Donald Trump are you a comic book villain?’, ‘Ben Carson can you do math?’, ‘John Kasich will you insult two people over here?’, ‘Marco Rubio, why don’t you resign?’, ‘Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?’ How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?”

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has since cancelled its contract with NBC to air more debates.  Cruz has questioned why partisan Democrats would even be allowed to be moderators of a Republican debate.  The various campaigns are considering running the debates themselves and cutting the RNC out of the process.

Ted Cruz has: been a former solicitor general for the state of Texas where he argued 9 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court; a Law Clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist; a policy advisor to Texas Governor George W. Bush (R); argued cases and helped organize the Bush legal team in the disputed 2000 presidential election; worked as Associate Deputy U.S. Attorney General; as policy Director for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission; and in private practice has represented high profile clients including the NRA and Rep. John Boehner (R from Ohio).  He was born Rafael Edward Cruz in Calgary, Alberta.  Cruz is a Southern Baptist.  He did his undergraduate work at Princeton and went to the Harvard Law School where he was the primary editor of the ‘Harvard Law Review’, executive editor of the ‘Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy’, and a founding editor of the ‘Harvard Latino Law Review.
