“I, and the members of the House Democratic Caucus, have always been committed to supporting our children’s education, our public schools and our educators. Those are the people who voted for us and who we were elected to represent. Our focus has always been on our local communities rather than what happens in Montgomery. And that is also why organizations like AEA are run by boards that are elected by local members: because they know what is best for their community.
The leadership at AEA may change, but our commitment to public education has not. We will continue to support educators and fight to protect our children’s education. And we will continue to fight against proposals that hurt our public schools, such as charter schools.”
