The “American Ideal” was formed in the minds of the Pilgrims and the founders of Jamestown almost 400 years ago – and that “American Ideal” was the belief that this would be a Nation of Free People, formed by the Divine Providence of God, so that we, as Free People, could worship God as we choose and benefit directly from the labor of our hands. This thought of Freedom of Religion is the Foundation Stone upon which this Nation was built and it must be protected to safeguard the future of this Nation.
With elections just days away I want to encourage each voter to support candidates that believe in the traditional role of the “family” as outlined in the Bible and support those that support the sanctity of human life as a gift from our Creator, as proclaimed in the Bible and in the Declaration of Independence. I also want to encourage each voter to support those candidates that honor the institution of marriage and promote the Biblical definition of traditional marriage as to be between one man and one woman.
Since 1980, the Republican Party has been a party of both Social and Fiscal Conservatives. I agree with the following beliefs of the Republican Party:
Promotion of traditional marriage
Support for a traditional role for women in the family.
Opposition to same-sex marriage
Opposition to legalized induced abortion
Support for abstinence education
Support for policies that are said to protect children from obscenity and exploitation
The Founding Fathers had much to say on these issues. John Adams penned in his diary in 1778 that “The foundation of national morality must be laid in private families. . . . How is it possible that children can have any just sense of the sacred Obligations of Morality or Religion if, from their earliest Infancy, they learn their Mothers live in habitual Infidelity to their fathers, and their fathers in as constant Infidelity to their Mothers?”
John Adams also communicated similar thoughts in a letter to Thomas Jefferson in 1814 when he wrote, “As long as Property exists, it will accumulate in Individuals and Families. As long as Marriage exists, Knowledge, Property and Influence will accumulate in Families.
Charles Carrol, signer of the Declaration of Independence, shared his views on Social Conservatism when he proclaimed, “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion… are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.
George Washington reminds the Nation in his farewell address that, “…that Divine Providence has connected the permanent felicity (blessings) of a Nation with its virtue… The experiment, at least, is recommended by every sentiment which ennoble (righteously exalts) human Nature.
When you vote on Election Day, please vote and pray for those that support and embody the American Ideal of Faith and Family Values.
