Last week the Alabama Political Reporter published an article that stated that The University of Montevallo donated money to the Alabama Republican Party. That report was factually inaccurate on that issue. We apologize to the University, the administration, faculty, students and alumni.
The following is a response from The University of Montevallo explaining what was reported on the Secretary of State’s website that led to the flawed report:
“The University of Montevallo received a check in the amount of $3,000 from the Cullman County Republican Party (CCRP) to fund a $1,000 private scholarship. When the overpayment was discovered, the CCRP requested a $2,000 refund which was processed and mailed. In compliance with State laws regarding the use of public funds, the University of Montevallo does not contribute to political candidates or to PACs.”
