MONTGOMERY— With the 2014 Alabama Republican Primary less than a week away, many leading business organizations gathered for a press conference on the steps of the PSC to announce their endorsement of Commissioner Jeremy H. Oden in the race for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1.
Leaders from across the State representing agriculture, manufacturing, small business, construction and other business sectors were in attendance and several notable organizations spoke on behalf of Commissioner Oden.
Commissioner Oden informed supporters that, as a member of the PSC, his priority is to keep rates low and affordable for Alabama citizens and Alabama businesses. “My supporters and I understand the vital role that the PSC plays for Alabama,” said Oden. “It is my job to ensure that utility rates stay low for the people of Alabama.”
Former Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman spoke on behalf of the Alabama Farmers Association’s endorsement stressing the importance of having good public servants like Commissioner Oden who understand the important role that energy plays in the state.
“In recent years, we have seen excessive overreach from the federal government in all walks of our life,” Chapman said. “I am confident that Commissioner Oden will stand up to this type of overreach. He was a great legislator when he represented one of the largest agricultural districts and he is a common sense conservative with am incredibly strong work ethic.”
President of Manufacture Alabama George Clark and Jeremy Walker of the Alabama Realtors Association also spoke at the press conference highlighting Commissioner Oden’s commitment to serving the people and businesses of Alabama.
“I have been a small business person and I can say nothing is more important in being competitive than low and stable energy rates,” Oden said. “I am very proud that since taking office in 2012 Alabama is the only Southern State that has not allowed their electric utility to increase rates.”
Commissioner Oden has received endorsements from many leading Alabama organizations such as: Alabama Farmers Federation, Alabama Coal Association, Alabama Realtors Association, Alabama Retail Association, Alabama State Employees Association, Manufacture Alabama, National Rifle Association and others.
