MONTGOMERY—Attorney General Luther Strange announced that four search warrants were served today at four separate casinos in Greene County through a joint effort by law enforcement agents from the Attorney General’s Office and the Alabama Department of Public Safety. This law enforcement action was taken in response to alleged illegal gambling operations. The search warrants were served this morning at Greenetrack and Greene Charity in Eutaw, AL, and at Frontier Bingo and River’s Edge in Knoxville, AL.
The AG’s Office was able to accomplish this by using a Sealed Case in the Alabama Court of Appeals.
“Today’s actions are the culmination of an investigative process over the last several months,” said Attorney General Strange. “From my first day in office, I have worked to ensure that illegal gambling laws are enforced consistently across the state. These casinos were operating in open defiance of the rule of law and we have been left with no alternative but to treat this as we would any other law enforcement matter.”
“I want to thank Governor Bentley for his continued support of our law enforcement efforts,” said Attorney General Strange.
The search warrants served today culminated in the seizure of more than 1,000 gambling machines and an undisclosed amount of cash. The gambling machines, along with the seized money, will be held as evidence and will be subject to forfeiture procedures in the Circuit Court of Greene County.
