From the Office of Senator Gerald Dial
MONTGOMERY – In a letter to members of the legislative committee charged with overseeing the operations of the Senate, Senator Gerald Dial (R-Lineville) praised Senate Secretary Pat Harris’ management of limited financial resources.
“There has not been a fiscal crisis in Alabama of this magnitude since the Great Depression and I thought it would be useful for us to examine what he and the staff have accomplished in the face of greatly diminished budget resources,” Dial wrote in the letter. “My sense is that Secretary Harris and the staff have been responsible stewards of our budget resources and will continue to do that as we go forward.”
Dial noted that Harris has reduced the Senate staff by eliminating nine positions, filling eight positions with entry-level salaried employees and combining four senior positions which have saved a combined total of $1.45 million to date.
