HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will be in Huntsville July 16 for a fundraising dinner, according to The Times’ news partner, WHNT News 19.
State Rep. Mike Ball, R-Madison, confirmed the visit. “Governor Romney will be coming to Huntsville, and we look forward to having him,” he told the TV station.
Romney’s wife, Ann, visited Huntsville on March 13 shortly before the presidential primaries, but without her husband. Romney didn’t prevail in Alabama’s primaries — opponent Rick Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, claimed victory early in the evening with 35 percent of the vote, trailed by Newt Gingrich at 30 percent and Romney with 28.
