The Bachus for Congress Campaign has emailed supporters announcing that Senator Jeff Sessions (R) from Alabama had endorsed United States Representative Spencer Bachus (R) from Vestavia’s reelection. In the emailed, popular Alabama Republican Senator says:
“Mary and I have been friends with Spencer and Linda for many years. They are good people. Spencer is a man of integrity who loves his country and supports those who serve her. I absolutely support his reelection, because he is a strong conservative and a man of faith who is right now playing a key leadership role in Congress. Spencer is working hard for economic growth, limited government and the values we share, and his reelection is important for Alabama and America.”
Larry Lavender with the Bachus Campaign said, “We are very thankful to have Sen. Sessions’ support as we continue to work hard for Spencer’s reelection.” Alabama’s other Senator Richard Shelby (R) has contributed $10,000 from his Political Action Committee to the Bachus reelection effort.
Congressman Spencer Bachus (R) from Vestavia is seeking his eleventh term in the United States Congress. In another recent email release Bachus said, “Since President Obama took office just over three years ago, I have strongly opposed his many attempts to increase the size and scope of government. I joined with other conservatives in Congress to oppose Obamacare, stop absurd regulations pushed by the EPA, and fight against numerous attempts by the Obama administration to increase governmental intrusion in our lives.”
Rep. Bachus continues, “Instead of honestly addressing the need for spending and entitlement reform, Barack Obama has proposed a grab bag of gimmicks in extra borrowing that will further the worsen the deficit. As House Financial Services Committee Chairman, I will make sure the committee scrutinizes every dollar of spending the Obama Administration proposes for programs under our jurisdiction. It is unacceptable to me for America to continue the same path of spending, borrowing, and overregulation that has put so many European countries in financial and economic peril.”
Incumbent 6th District Congressman Spencer Bachus is running for his eleventh term in the Congress. Also running in the March 13th Republican Primary are Alabama State Senator Scott Beason from Gardendale, Probate Judge David Standridge, and Tea Party activist Al Mickle from Shelby County. The winner of the Republican Primary will face Alabama Democratic Party opposition on the November 6th ballot from either Birmingham attorney William “Bill” Barnes or retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Penny Huggins Bailey. According to reporting by ‘The Birmingham News,’ Rep. Spencer Bachus campaign has spent $752,000 while Judge Standridge and State Senator Beason campaigns combined have just spent $74,600.
Alabama’s Sixth Congressional District includes all or parts of Jefferson, Blount, Shelby, Chilton, and Coosa Counties.
