Staff Report
From the Office of Attorney General Luther Strange
(MONTGOMERY) – “I want to clarify any misunderstandings about the involvement of the Attorney General’s Office in any particular legislation to reform the immigration law.
The legislative leadership asked my office to provide suggestions on how the law could be strengthened in court, along with how burdens on law abiding citizens and law enforcement could be relieved, all without weakening the law. We provided that in our memo of December 1, 2011.
We have been and continue to successfully defend our law. That is the duty of the Attorney General.
We will review legislation from a legislator when asked. We are not, however, promoting a particular bill, nor are we participating in the development of particular legislation.”
