Wednesday, January 27, US Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) prepared for the last Republican Presidential Debate before the Iowa Caucuses launch the campaign season. Meanwhile the Marco Rubio for President Campaign announced their Alabama Leadership Team. Alabama Co-Chair for Marco Rubio for President State Representative Will Ainsworth (R-Guntersville) said that many influential Alabama Republicans are rallying behind Rubio. The campaign described Sen. Rubio as a unifier and promised that Rubio is the leader that can make this American Century the best ever.

Regional Spokesman for Marco Rubio for President Jeremy Adler said, “We are thrilled to have earned the support of so many key leaders across Alabama. We are committed to building strong organizations in all 50 states and support from these influential elected officials will allow us to put in place an impressive ground operation for the March 1st primary.”

State Rep. Ainsworth said, “Many influential Alabama Republicans are rallying behind Marco Rubio’s candidacy because he is a next generation conservative and has innovative ideas for America’s future. As the one candidate that can defeat Hillary Clinton and reverse the damage caused by the Obama presidency, I am proud to be a part of the team that will help Marco do well in Alabama.”

Former Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead is the other Rubio Co-Chair in Alabama. Chairman Armistead is a member of the ALGOP Executive Committee and is a former State Senator representing Shelby County.

Other members of the Alabama Marco Rubio leadership team include: State Senator Clay Scofield, member ALGOP Executive Committee from Marshall County; Sen. Slade Blackwell member ALGOP Executive Committee from Jefferson County; Sen. Greg Albritton from Baldwin County; State Representative Randall Shedd, member ALGOP Executive Committee from Cullman County; Rep. Danny Garrett, member ALGOP Executive Committee from Jefferson County; Rep. David Faulkner member ALGOP Executive Committee from Jefferson County; Rep. Jack Williams from Jefferson County; Rep. Jim Patterson from Madison County; Rep. K.L. Brown from Calhoun County; Rep. Kyle South from Fayette County; Rep. Mack Butler, member ALGOP Executive Committee from Etowah County; Rep. Matt Fridy, member ALGOP Executive Committee from Shelby County; Rep. Mike Jones member ALGOP Executive Committee from Covington County; Rep. Nathaniel Ledbetter from DeKalb County; Rep. Lynn Greer from Lauderdale County; Houston County Commissioner Brandon Shoupe, member ALGOP Executive Committee; Baldwin County Commissioner Chris Elliott, member of ALGOP Executive Committee; Covington County Commissioner Greg White, member ALGOP Executive Committee; Colbert County Commissioner Tommy Oswalt, member ALGOP Executive Committee; Baldwin County Commissioner Tucker Dorsey, member of ALGOP Executive Committee; Marshall County Commissioner Billy Strickland; Cherokee County Commissioner Dustin St. Clair; Dekalb County Revenue Commissioner Tyler Wilks; Franklin County Revenue Commissioner Veronica Stancil; Pickens County District Attorney Chris McCool; Marshall County Superintendent of Education Dr. Cindy Wigley; Arab Mayor Bob Joslin; Geraldine Mayor Chuck Ables; Guntersville Mayor Leigh Dollar; Baldwin County Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack; and Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton.

Sen. Rubio joins the Republican Presidential candidates debate on Fox News tonight, but GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has opted out complaining of biased treatment from Fox. Sen. Ted Cruz (R from Texas) challenged Trump to a one on one presidential debate. Trump responded, “Only if it is in Canada (a reference to Cruz’s birth place, which some claim disqualifies him for President under the “natural born” requirement in the US Constitution).

Sen. Rubio said, “I think this whole thing between Donald and Ted Cruz is theatrics and an interesting sideshow. But this is about the future of America. I’m focused on the future of America. I’m focused on defeating Hillary Clinton and ensuring that we don’t have another four years like the last seven years. So if other people want to focus on Ted Cruz talking about mano y mano debates. Again, it’s an interesting sideshow, interesting theatrics, but it has nothing to do with the future of the United States of America.”

The Alabama Primary will be on March 1.
